Saratov. Employees of OAO Saratovneftegaz, a subsidiary of RussNeft, took active part in All-Russia Environmental Litter Pick (Subbotnik) “Green Russia”, coordinated by regional Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
The territories adjacent to Guselskoye and Sokolovogorskoye oilfields, located within Volzhskiy District of Saratov, have been cleared of unauthorized dumps. The employees of the Company by the means of specialized vehicles managed to clean up area of over 1 hectare, to transport and landfill around 170 cubic metres of solid municipal waste. Thus the Company made significant contribution to arrangements for the City Day celebration. Notably, Saratovneftegaz employees participated in the large-scale environmental project “Clean banks - to Volga River”, initiated by Saratov Governor and dedicated to the 80-th anniversary of Saratov Region, not once but twice last summer. Major part of bank line of Green Island has been cleared from community waste. Particular attention was paid to cleaning of sandy beach of one of the famous historic sites of the city. Interestingly, from the second half of 20th century and up to 2009 Saratovneftegaz intensively produced hydrocarbons on the Green Island, where over dozen and a half of highly-productive wells of Sokolovogorskoye oilfield were exploited.
Such actions of social significance have long become a tradition for the Saratov oilmen. As an example, each year during the spring citywide month-long campaigns they tidy up the territory on the slope of Sokolovaya Mountain, adjacent to office premises of the Company. The headquarters of OAO Saratovneftegaz is located on one of the busiest motorways of Volzhskiy District and close to the popular recreation place Victory Park and this confers additional significance to the April community days. Traditionally, May 9th celebrations of the Victory Day are held there, involving thousands of war veterans, home-front workers and young people.
