WILDFIRE AT AGANNEFTEGAZGEOLOGIA LICENSED AREA DOUSED

At the end of August the employees of Aganneft oilfield observed smoke in one of the forest areas. On examination of the area, the 6-hectares fire was discovered. The source of fire was in close proximity to the boundaries of the licensed area. Dry and warm weather let the fire spread within the territory. The disaster didn`t threaten to the production facilities of the Company, but wildfire spread over A-3 area of traditional nature use with the residential and farm buildings of indigenous people of the North, that live their traditional life.

The duty shift operators of the Company decided to deploy specialized unit of “Lesaviaokhrana”, the contracting company of Aganneftegazgeologia for ground and aerial patrolling, fire-preventing and fire-fighting operations. An eight-member helicopter crew, assisted by local people, extinguished the fire on the territory of 16 hectares.

The prompt response to the emergency, as well as fast containment and suppression of blaze resulted from the programme of enterprise preparation for fire danger period. The implementation of complex multilateral actions of fire safety reduced the risk of wildfire occurrence near the industrial facilities of Aganneftegazgeologia and enabled the uninterrupted implementation of production programme. It also demonstrated the preparedness of duty shift crews to react effectively in emergency situations and to protect lives, health and property of indigenous people of Yugra, residing on the licensed areas of the Entity.
