Employees of Saratovneftegaz prevented ignition of hazardous industrial facility

The involvement of Saratovneftegaz` employees has been the key factor in controlling and suppressing the steppe fire, that occurred in Krasnoarmeyskiy district on the night of October 15/16, according to a press-team of Saratovneftegaz.

“Fast spreading 1 km-long flame front almost reached the Ilovlinskiy gathering station of Bagaevskiy oil and gas production division. In order to prevent fire from spreading into the station`s territory, the foreman M.A. Lushnikov, operators V.V. Ponomarev , N.A.Morev and crew vehicle driver A.E. Vorotilov took knapsack sprayers and manfully joined the battle with fire, while drivers Y. A. Beschastnov and S.N. Dronov continuously delivered water from Zapadno-Rybushanskiy OPPU. Having applied the skills, mastered during the systematically held fire drills, the employees of the Saratovneftegaz demonstrated exceptional self-possession and true fortitude.
Moreover, the assignment of regional fire service from fire post No. 41, located in Kamenskiy, came to the assistance. Due to the interaction between professionals and volunteers, the steppe fire was controlled and eventually suppressed at the approaches to the hazardous industrial facilities of Ilovlinskiy gathering station on the morning of October 16th.

It is noteworthy that training exercises to improve response of staff in emergency situations takes place in Saratovneftegaz on regular basis. During training employees become familiar with primary fire-extinguishing means and basic skills of applying them. They also learn to provide pre-hospital emergency care to injured people, practice evacuation procedures and emergency escape route assignments. It is important that during such activities stuff acquire psychological stability and assertiveness, which are necessary for successful coordinated actions aimed at enhancing the fire control. At the same time such training gives an opportunity to completely organize the interaction between the executives and fire service personnel.
