It’s already fifteen years that similar projects have not been done in the Republic. It’s a modern school center designed to accommodate 540 pupils. However the school will have twice as many pupils because of acute shortage of schools in Grozny.
A report from Grozny by Roman Karpov
In tumbledown Grozny this lyceum-school looks as a real palace. It has not been restored from ruins; it has been built anew, as they say, starting from a zero point. The cooperation agreement between Oil and Gas Company RussNeft and the Government of Chechen Republic was signed by the first President of the Republic Akhmad Kadyrov.
One year later the donation of the oil producers was received by the present head of Chechnya Alu Alkhanov who said: “You see the school is ready for the beginning of the school year. It is really a wonderful present for the children, citizens of the town and of the Republic.
More than a thousand pupils will be taught in this lyceum. There is everything necessary for full-value educational process including 40 classrooms, a gymnasium, a stadium and even a dental room.
RussNeft President Mikhail Gutseriev himself lived in Grozny and went to School No 23, which used to stand on this very spot. Today his first teachers and class-mates have arrived at the opening ceremony. The school has been named Mariam after the mother of Mickhail Gutseriev.
M.Gutseriev says: “Chechnya is recovering and it is the social development that will help the Chechenian people to recover. I am absolutely sure of it”.
It is not the first charitable action of the oil producers for the Chechenian people. Earlier RussNeft donated 70 ambulances to Chechnya. For the support provided by Mikhail Gutseriev to the Chechenian people the elders in the village of Goity decided to give his name to one of the streets of the village. Neither of Russian businessmen has ever been afforded such honor. In their turn the oilmen promised that each year they would do a new project in Chechnya.
Mikhail Gutseriev said: “Do you remember when at the congress of Russia’s businessmen President asked them to actively help the Republic of Chechnya. We will help. We will definitely do our best.”
Already next year it is planned to do the reconstruction of the hospital complex in the Urus-Martanovsky region of the Republic.
