This is how expressed themselves the press-services of some power authorities in relation to a message of the notorious Chechenian terrorist Shamil Basayev. The message was spread by some electronic mass media sources in the end of August. Formally Basayev having flowerily referred to himself as warlord Abd Allah Shamil Abu-Idris was carrying on polemics with one Chechenian journalist apropos of the last year tragic events in Beslan. And in this polemics it fell to the share of Russia’s authorities, special services and the well-known Russian businessman Mikhail Gutseriev.
Basayev’s splashing irritation was caused by a most noteworthy and important occasion of a republican scale which is no exaggeration. In Grozny in place of a secondary school once razed by the rebels a new lyceum school was inaugurated in August. The school was built on the personal means of Mikhail Gutseriev. The old one, of which not even the foundation was left, had been attended by Mikhail Gutseriev as a boy. It is most likely that it was no nostalgia that became a mover of this project. Speaking at the opening ceremony the businessman promised that each year he would build a new project in Chechnya thus contributing personally into the reconstruction of Chechnya.
By the way the new school is not the first donation among other charities of the Russian businessman. People in Chechnya know and remember about it. For instance as a token of appreciation the elders of the Republic decided to give his name to a street in one of Chechenian villages.
Basayev blows up, Gutseriev builds. Isn’t it a good reason for resentment? Moreover the businessman said in his speech at the opening ceremony that “man with the ruble is stronger than man with the gun”.
Therefore Basayev dedicated to him a significant part of his message. In the above Mikhail Gutseriev was promised all or almost all the miseries and heavy penalties right up to the wish that he should “choke with his own blood and taste its bitterness”.
Whatsoever is the businessman accused of by Basayev:
“Gutseriev robbed us in the beginning of the nineties, during the first world war and he is robbing us now. He armed and backed up Kadyrov and later Alkhanov”. And especially cynical are the words related to the participation of Gutseriev in the rescue of the Beslan hostages. “He deceived the Mujahidins having told them that there would be no assault and for this he was given the possibility to buy oil fields in Siberia”.
The well-known style of similar messages has now got a new connotation, namely, according to the Basayev message “the case of Gutseriev will be heard at the autumn session of the Shariat court-martial”. Apart from the menacing theses dedicated to Mikhail Gutseriev the Basayev message is full of other promises. For instance, he pledges to open several new fronts at a time with the ready-made names such as Moskovsky, Povolzhsky and Uralsky fronts. All this is to be done with the purpose of spreading jihad and adding up to the already existing front called Kavkazsky, as stated by Basayev.
In the electronic letter there is also a detective story about a double agent with an intricate combination of his first and last names. The agent is very operative and currently he is acting for the “welfare of Islam” evidently after having performed all the necessary traditional ceremonies accompanying conversion from one faith to another.
Pronouncements of official persons regarding the Besayev message are not available. In the power structures they have acknowledged that the declarations of the notorious filicide terrorist Shamil Basayev related to the implication of Russia’s special services in the Beslan terrorist act are just gibberish of a madman.
