“No matter how much is destroyed we will keep building,”

The beginning of war operations were declared on the last day of August by the Chechenian terrorist Shamil Basayev. He promised to open “Moskovsky, Povolzhsky and Uralsky fronts”, as he made it clear in his speech published on the rebels’ site called Kavkaz-Centr. The terrorist commemorated the anniversary of the Beslan tragedy by making this speech in which he first of all accused the Russian special services and then came down threatening upon the well-known businessman Mikhail Gutseriev. The warrior with children and peaceful citizens Basayev considers as his enemies all those who stand up for revival of the Republic. Therefore with his special hatred the terrorist ‘honored’ Mikhail Gutseriev, who built a new school for his own money in the Oktyabrsky district of Grozny to replace the one burned by the rebels. For fifteen years nobody has built such projects in the Republic. The school complex is equipped with modern facilities and designed for 540 pupils. But because there is shortage of schools in Grozny the new school will have at least a thousand children.
In the new school there are 32 class-rooms, 3 gymnasiums, a stadium, a dining-hall, two language laboratories and a dental room. It looks as if it’s going to be the best school in the Northern Caucasus.
“In Russia and other countries there are many rich emigrants from the Republic of Chechnya but none of them has ever made such a present for the people,” – pointed out President of Chechnya Alu Alkhanov.
The company of Mikhail Gutseriev and he personally actively participate in restoration of some important social, cultural and educational projects in Chechnya. For instance, for the Health Ministry the businessman has bought more than 70 ambulances.
The creative activity of Mikhail Gutseriev is obviously inconsistent with Basayev’s plans as the latter promised to take the ‘matter’ of the businessman to the autumn session of the Shariat court-martial.
In spite of the threats of the terrorists the businessman is not going to change his plans. Speaking at the ceremonial opening of the school Mikhail Gutseriev said that he intended to commission a new project in Chechnya each year. “No matter how much is destroyed we will keep building, and after all we shall defeat the gunman,” – said the businessman.
