Russia and Algeria signed in Algiers the agreement on creating the Algerian-Russian Council to function under the aegis of the Commerce and Industry Chambers of the two countries. The press-service of Oil Company RussNeft reports the document was signed by the Co-Chairmen of the Council, RussNeft President Mikhail Gutseriev representing Russia and Kamel Abdel Rahim representing the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.
The event took place during the official visit of Russia’s businessmen to Algeria, which had been agreed upon on January 20th 2006 during the meeting in Moscow when Mikhail Gutseriev was elected the Co-Chairman of the Council representing Russia. The mission of the delegation represented by leading Russian energy, finance, construction and transport firms is to establish business dialogue between the two countries, to obtain more information about Algeria, to discuss specific investment projects and to promote diversification of the goods turnover between the countries. Soyuzneftegas is participating in some tenders of Algerian oil and gas sector. Earlier M.Gutseriev spoke about RussNeft’s intention to get involved in oil and gas projects in Algeria.
