NSP-22 is a Big Step Forward

03.05.2006 "MK-Saratov"

Rapid development of production has always been typical of Oil and Gas Company RussNeft. Owing to this fact, within only 2 years the holding company managed to become one of TOP-10 of Russia’s oil companies. In September 2005 RussNeft won the first prize at the Black Gold of Yugra Contest as the fastest growing company. The corner stones of RussNeft strategy are introduction of advanced technologies and state-of-the-art oil and gas equipment, investments in the development of own production capacities, all aimed at increasing production efficiency. Production intensification is also the basis for the development of Saratovneftegaz OAO, a regional subsidiary of RussNeft. We are going to tell a story about upgrading of one of the Saratovneftegaz key facilities thus showing how the oil men in Saratov work and move forward.

Oil gathering station №22 (NSP-22) of Saratovneftegaz was built in the end of the 70’s of the past century. It is located in the southern part of the region where the Rovensky district is found. Initially NSP was designed to collect the product from the nearby Limano-Grachovskoye oilfield. However, when the Belokamennoye oilfield opened up, which was quite a big one, the company began to modernize and debottleneck this facility. In the middle of the 90’s they built a sulfurous gas processing unit (UPSG) which allowed supplying the population of nearby areas with local gas.
However, in the course of time the capacities of the oil gathering station proved small for the increasing volumes. Specifically, it was a big problem to handle the crude oil from the Limano-Grachovskoye oilfield with a high gas factor. By the present time the crude oil production from the Belokamennoye and Limano-Grachovskoye oilfields has significantly increased coming to more than 350 thousand tons of crude oil per year. The company plans to increase it further. But the facilities available are not sufficient to handle such volumes of the product. Therefore fundamental renovation of the oil gathering station was a matter of necessity at Saratovneftegaz.
In 2005 they started to revamp the crude oil and gas preparation system at NSP-22 which was very important for production development of the entire enterprise.
Thus, they commissioned a separation facility area which at its first stage treats water-oil emulsion coming from the wells to separate liquid from gas. The latter is sent to the sulfurous gas processing unit. During the second stage of separation 90% of water is removed from the liquid with crude oil going further to a technological tank to complete separation of water from crude oil.
Then the products are pipelined to the final preparation unit in the borough of Stepnoye to produce marketable crude to be later shipped to the buyer at the oil bulk station in the Sovetsky district.
At NSP-22 new technologies have been introduced to the full extent. For the first time Saratovneftegaz installed three-phase separators in the separation facility area of the oil gathering station and equipped the facility with the state-of-the-art automation. Currently they are adjusting the instruments but the working conditions of the operators have already changed radically for the best. To maintain pressure and required level in the separators the attendant doesn’t have to turn slides after the old way. There are control valves with electric-driven actuator thereto. The operator controls the process from a computerized workstation.
Moreover, current information about the process may be available not only for the personnel at the facility. All the data are immediately passed on to the office of Saratovneftegaz found in the regional center.
The employees of Saratovneftegaz OAO are confident that the new separation facility at the NSP-22 is a sort of flagship among other facilities of the company in respect of both automation and concentration of the equipment, and life conditions of the workers as major repairs have been made in the control room and the laboratory.
“I would like to specifically mention significant contribution to the revamp of NSP-22 made by the following employees of Saratovneftegaz OAO: Production Development Deputy General Director Yaroslav Kudla, Capital Construction Director Valerie Kornilovich , Capital Construction leading specialist Vladimir Poddubny, Crude Oil Preparation and Acceptance Manager Valerie Povshuk, South Shop Manager Ivan Marchenko, ACS Director Vladimir Manyakin,” pointed out General Director of Saratovneftegaz Sergey Byshov.
The total amount of investments in the upgrade of NSP-22 exceeded 80 million roubles. The revamp of the oil gathering station has allowed, first of all,  to handle crude with a high gas factor, and, secondly, to improve quality of the water used in the system of maintaining reservoir pressure in the Belokamennoye and Limano-Grachovskoye oilfields.
And finally, the most important thing is that now it is possible to further increase oil production because NSP-22 can take more product volumes. The company has built the facility taking into account future development of the Belokamennoye oilfield and other oilfields in this license area. For instance, there is drilling work currently done in the Zapadno-Belokamennoye oilfield, and when it yields crude oil the oil gathering station will be able to handle all the volumes.
As we have just seen, the production at Saratovneftegaz develops at a very high rate. And it is the guarantee of success of one of the vehicles of the local economy.
