It was in the evening…

For many years the “Dosug” (translator’s note: “Leisure”)  Cultural and Sports center has been a structural subdivision at “Varieganneft”.  This union of oilmen and those of culture is truly indestructible. A lot of new ideas and plans are generated within this center. Thus, last weekend there was organized an unforgettable event called a “Funny night” which was something interesting, new and  unusual.
Six teams represented “Varieganneft” and its subsidiaries. Those were the management board, OOO “UA and ANP”, OOO “PBU”, OOO “URONO”, OOO “SMY”. According to the organizer of the event, the art director of “Dosug”  - Irina Afanasieva, the aim of the event was not only entertaining but also ideological.
- We wanted to demonstrate that the leisure time activities can be health caring, active and interesting. We wanted to show that one can have a very good time with colleagues, and not only work.  The “Funny night” was of corporate spirit, which means that people, proud of the entity they work at, wanted to communicate the same feeling to the young.
The event lasted more than twenty four hours with a small break. During this time the participants had to invent choreographic and vocal performances, costumes. They also had to answer on the spot the answers of an intellectual quiz. Generally speaking, the event had an improvisatory character. The juries, among whom there were Lubov Ulasenk, Karina Margarian, Alexander Matveev and Roman Martiniuk, were to judge the competitors. The first task of the competition was to decorate their working places and make its presentation to the jury board. Somebody constructed a command office as a prototype of a geologic expedition in a form of a tent with steaming food on fire and guitar songs. Others made a presentation of a working place in the form of a staff conference, others  - in the form of a camping etc. But on a unanimous opinion everybody displayed an ample of originality and imagination. Another competition was to win the jury’s heart, in a traditional, so to say, way – through the stomach. Presentation of specialties of the competing teams turned out to be a theatrical performance. The presented images of the competitors were very bright and turned out to be even brighter than their culinary chef d’oeuvres . After the competition the jury enjoyed dolma, stuffed pickerel, cakes, home-made kvas, fruit plate and pan cakes. Soon afterwards they gave each team the maximal score.
The extrim show was followed by the disco with the DJs of the teams. That was a real fun. The juries and the organization committee demonstrated energetic dances. The best DJ was mc”Bugay” representing OOO “UA and ANP”.
Another competition was “Golden Brain” talk-show. Representatives from each of the teams were to answer questions on literature, history and proposed riddles. The winner was Yuriy Zaitsev form “Brigada” team from OOO “PBU”.
The first day of the “Funny party” was finished by singing songs by the fire. The competitors had a short sleep break which was followed by new trials. They arrived at “Dosug” at nearly 7 o’clock in the morning and at nine they started again. The competitors had to display their force, skills and knack. The team “Siberial wolves” was the best.
The rite of initiation of young specialists who came to work at “Varieganneft” and its subsidiaries this year rendered the competition more ceremonial. 27 new comers swore a solemn oath of an oiler and the Chairman and the Chairwoman of the Youth Committee and the Council of young specialists, Elena Piteeva and Marat Mindubaev, handed in the certificates to them. Yiruy Tanin, Chief engineer and Deputy General Director, congratulated the young generation. Among the experts that work at “Varieganneft” today, Yuriy Tanin came to the entity many years ago and underwent all stages of professional development.

The most long-awaited event of the two days was the concert where each team demonstrated choreographic and vocal performances and also an act of an original genre. The point was that the participants had only two hours for preparation which means that they were to be judged being practically unprepared. The concert was wonderful. The performances of “Night snipers”  and “ Siberial wolves” were judged the most bright. As the result the team of OOO “URONO” won the first prize, the second place was given to the team of “Siberian wolves” and “Multivitaminki” of the direction board won the third prize.
