Pioneers of oil treasures
On Sunday geologists are going to celebrate their professional holiday, geologists - people, thanks to whom there were revealed enormous natural resources, which became a safe basis for the development of our country in the past, a pledge of its economic strength in the present and in the foreseeable future.
In due time, development of major oil and gas fields breathed a new life into the Tomsk region; to the present day oil-and-gas industry is the main source of its welfare. It gives warmth and light in the houses, thousands of workplaces, millions of Rubles obtained from fiscal charges, great contribution to progress of the northern territories of oil producing companies. One of them is ZAO "Sobolinoye", a subsidiary of OAO NK "RussNeft". For its team a forthcoming holiday is as important as a Day of oil-worker.
"Geologists are the first who come to the area of the prospective oilfields. An answer to the all-important question - whether the field discovery and oil production take place or not - depends on their geological and exploration works, professional interpretation of a huge amount of the received G&G data. Geological survey plays a very important role in the life of our enterprise - due to knowledge, work of its team and application of modern technologies. The bulk increment of oil reserves in the fields of ZAO "Sobolinoye" grows every year. If in 2007 increment of reserves amounted to 700 thousand tonns, this year it is planned to increment more than 2,0 million tonns. Increase of the resource base makes provision for the future of the enterprise" - says Valery Gabrielyan, General Director of Zao "Sobolinoye".
Valery Nokolaevich knows firsthand about significancy and importance of the work of geologists.
He has passed all levels in this profession: he started from diesel operator at Pravdinskaya oil exploratory expedition, worked as a commander of an expedition, ran a business at Aganskoye geological enterprise on oil and gas prospecting.
In the professional team, which he gathered at ZAO "Sobolinoye", among active geologists there are also many of those, for whom the Day of geologist is "their" holiday.
Alexander Grot, Deputy General manager at ZAO "Sobolinoye", for about 20 years was in charge of work in Kolpashevskaya Oil/Gas exploratory expedition; Sergey Grebennikov, the Head of the Drilling and Workover Department, was an Engineering manager at Zapadnaya Oil/Gas exploratory expedition; Nikolay Drozdov, Chief engineer at ZAO "Sobolinoye", worked for the Marine exploration company in the Far East; Igor Kriventsov, Deputy Chief engineer for the industrial and labor safety, came from the Tomsk geological exploratory expedition.
Tatiana Rukosuyeva, HR manager, Yury Shevchenko, Central Despatch Operator, Gennady Kosoukhov, Drilling department supervisor, Svetlana Egelskaya, Deputy Controller have also come here from "Tomskneftegazgeologia".
Anton Berezovsky, the former Chief geologist of Kargasokskoye oil exploratory expedition, participated in the oil search of "Sobolinoye" and "Gurarinskoye", which are now being developed by the enterprise and bring it the bulk of oil. "Business, that we have started, is going on, and I'm happy, that I was a part in it - confesses Anton Ivanovich. "When we came to Gurarinskoye and Sobolinoye, there was wild taiga there, and nowadays there are up-to-date industrial facilities, comfortable hostels, there is scheduled transport connection, satellite TV and communication.

The 60ths and 70ths of the last century became the “era of great discoveries” for oil and gas geology. For quite a long period the well-being of the branch and of the country on the whole were connected with them. But during the past decades many oilfields approached that critical level where production falls and the technologies applied permit but to slow the rate of decreasing.
”-The problem of reserves increment is very acute, there are no doubts that future belongs to those who pay special attention to search of new oilfields, says Vitaliy Valentinovich.
Oil and Gas Company “RussNeft”, the parent company of ZAO “Sobolinoye” has developed a complex program of geological exploratory works and in compliance with this program by 2010 our company is to increase substantially its resource base, to put into operation several oilfields. In 2008 we have a gigantic amount of work to do, and the new management of “Russneft” have assigned about half a billion rubles for these works. These means will enable us to drill three exploratory wells and to start construction of three more ones, to perform geological and engineering works at 8 wells of the oilfields “Sobolinoye” and “Guratrinskoye” , to put into operation “Smolianoye” and “Solonovskoye” oilfields. First tons of oil have already been produced at “Solonovskoye”, and “Smolianoye” will start working in April. The expected result of the program is growing of oil production at our company up to 800 thopusand – million tons per year, resource base increment is to reach in near future 12 million tons.”
Special accent is to be done on resurvey and industrial development of the southern group of oilfields. The data evidence that major discoveries are quite possible here, but only the results of drilling can confirm it. Before 2010 more than 10 appraisal and exploration wells will have deen drilled here. A mighty rush to the South, realized on the initiative of and supported by the parent company “RussNeft” can help “Sobolinoye” to make a qualitative step forward in its development.
“Development of oilfields will require colossal investments, our “South” is situated at Vasiugan swamps, where there are no roads, and natural environment require applying of unique engineering decisions. Only large amounts of produced oil can justify the investments. It is a dominating factor with the investors”, says Vitaly Gusev.
“Our geological service is facing a very important task: to place the exploration works in the optimal manner and to reach maximal reserves increment at minimal cost. The future of our company depends on their competence, professionalism and experience, but I’m sure, they can manage the task and to do it at the up-to date level.”, says Valery Gabrielian. “Oilmen and geologists have always worked in close partnership in their common business – search and production of “underground treasure” which people need so badly.
