Employees of “Belkamneft” competed for the prizes of the First Corporate Olympics

27.01.2009 “Udmurtski Vestnik”

Izhevsk. Sport complex “Axiom” housed the ceremony of awarding of the prize winners of the first Olympics held between the employees of “Belkamneft”. Administration of the plant and the sportsmen are of the same opinion: this athletic forum must become a tradition and expand its program next year.

Before this event employees of “Belkamneft” took active part in open Olympic Games  held by other plants. But this year active sportsmen and supporters of healthy way of life from “Belkamneft” decided to hold their own Olympics. And the teams arrived to the honest athletic tournament were not only from Izhevsk, but from Kambarka, Igra, Karakulino and Neftekamsk. Program of the Olympics included six popular sports: mini-football, table tennis, volleyball, chess, swimming and airgun shooting.
During two months more than 250 oilmen had been struggling for the Olympic prizes and at the end of the last week the results were summed up. At the awarding ceremony Deputy General Director of OAO “Belkamneft” Vladimir Kniazev remarked that there were no losers at the Olympics:
“All were winners: both the sportsmen and the fans.  Sports give us health, good physical form, help us in pour work. We are going to make these corporate competitions traditional. Next year the program of the games will include more sports”
Having finished handing in the awards to winners Vladimir Kniazev explained us the reasons which stimulated opening of corporate Olympics.
“One cannot live for the sake of work only . It is necessary for people to have a chance to forget their daily routine and to go in for sports which make them healthy and fit. As you know, “Belkamneft” does not only hold corporate competitions, but also renders help to many sportsmen. We have for several years held snowmobile races ub Karakulino, we are sponsors of a children’s motorcycle school. We think it our sacred duty to help children. We hope that some years later many of these little motor racers will come to our company and become excellent workers. It is universally known that one of the most important determinants of a good plant is its workers’ health. That is why all successful plants pay much attention to sponsoring and developing of sports, and “Belkamneft” is a successful plant!”
Having found out the point of view of the administration it was quite natural to inquire what the position of the oilmen was. One of the most active athletes of “Belkamneft”, Victor Kislukhin had missed none of the republican local Olympic games, for he is not only a good worker but an expert in all sport games too. At the first Olympic games of OAO “Belkamneft” Victor was the goalkeeper of the team “Udmurtia-2”. And his play looked so reliable that he won the prize of the best goal keeper at the tournament.
“I’m sure that such competitions are extremely useful for each of our workers”, - said Victor Kislukhin. – “here one can not only to demonstrate one’s sportive talents but to gain the necessary tonus for work. You feel tired after working shift, but then you come to the playground, and after a good match where you win, and the fans support you, you are a new man, and next morning you literally fly to work. Sports give you a huge charge of energy and Olympic Games are really great! I think that nest year we must involve more workers and include in the program of the competition other kind of sports: ski races, track-and-field athletics, weightlifting. I know that in Europe oil-and gasmen hold large-scale international sport competitions and we in “Belkamneft” can also make a good team to present it to the international level.”
