Present-day and comfortable

This event has long been expected: the problem has yet been raised last March at the collective-contractual conference, and it was brought under special control. The control room is a brain center of the enterprise. It accumulates information about the work of all production units and process flows. The shift chief and two commodity operators are constantly controlling oil intake into reservoirs and custody transfer.
"After the repair the room became more comfortable, light, cosy and warm, - says Gennady Arefiev, the head of the workshop on oil treatment and pumping. - The operators like to be here - especially when they return here after systematic visits to the territory of the workshop for visual monitoring and sampling of analysis (electronics is all well, but an eye of a worker is still the most secure controller). The control room looks more spacious now: the old massive equipment has been replaced with a modern and compact one (the fire-extinguishing system, consisting of several blocks of secure cabinets, has been replaced with one moderate-size computer, there has been completely renewed the worn-out and outdated equipment of metering unit). Some years ago the similar repair has already been made in the control room UPN-2, so that now everybody's working in similar conditions".
Nina Skorobogatova, the operator of the metering unit, has already been working in the workshop for 30 years: "Far back in the past we had to work in very severe climatic and service conditions: winters were very fierce, and control room - metal box - stood on piles above the ground, we could work only in cotton wadded jackets, and the floor was so cold that the legs were frozen even in felt boots. We had to go outside very often: gas for modular pipe-still heaters was wet at that time, that's why in nonheated pipes there constantly appeared condensate, which freezed over. We had to steam them out right in freezing temperatures, then drained condensate and dragged it in buckets. The current generation cannot even imagine it.
Today that's quite another thing: we're sitting in a warm room, automation is everywhere. Equipment became more accurate and reliable".
Ilshat Khairov, the shift chief, adjusts all work in the workshop. He started his working career as a process unit operator: "Over the last years a lot of positive changes have taken place in the workshop: there were repaired administration and living quarters, built a new metering station, now it's situated not in the street, but in the new warm room. It became more interesting to work with new modern equipment. Recently we have carried out a test of a new fire-extinguishing system, it impresses! Its reliable operation is a security basis; as you know, our unit is the most explosive and inflammable in the enterprise, and one should always be up to every move".
