"Russneft" reports about the reveald facts of fraud connected with illegal use of the company’s names
Moscow. September 1. /PRIME-TASS/ Oil and Gas Company “RussNeft” (RUS01) reports about the revealed facts of fraud connected with illegal use of the Company’s and its subsidiaries’ names in oil and oil products sales business. This is said in the press-release of the Company.
Thus, a number of frauds used to send commercial offers on bitumen, mazut and other oil products sale by e-mail, allegedly on behalf of the top managers of “RussNeft” or on from feigned authorized agents. Such offers were received by small-scale trading companies in India, China, Great Britain, Italy, Latin America.
To make the information contained in the offers convincing the frauds used electronic addresses consonant to the real ones. If the buyers expressed their intention to enter the transaction, they were offered to pay a certain commission as if for some obligatory registration of the contract in the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of the Russian Federation. The amount of the commission varied from USD50 to USD100 thousand and the money were to be transferred to private accounts of some third persons. Immediately after the funds were received at the account the pseudo sellers disappeared from the buyers’ field of vision. In a number of cases contacts with potential buyers were made on behalf of some Dmitry Prokhorov using a fake passport, who pretended to by the Company’s authorized agent for oil and oil products sales.
Besides, some frauds create web-sites of feigned oil companies using information from the official corporate web-site of OJSC Oil and Gas Company “Russneft” (www.russneft.ru). Thus, there was detected the site of “Chernomorneft-Gaz”
(www.chernomorneft-gaz.ru). The biographies of feigned top-managers and the president, the data about the structure of the company and its subsidiaries found at the site contain the information fully or partially copied from the official resource of OJSC Oil and Gas Company “Russneft”. Another site (www.vareganneft.ru) has the name sounding like the name of the Company’s subsidiary “Varioganneft”. Its contents was also falsified using the information taken from the official site of the Company.
On the basis of the above OJSC Oil and Gas Company “RussNeft” said declares that the representatives of the said Companies and private persons carrying on talks om behalf of OJSC Oil and Gas Company “RussNeft” have no such authorization and their intentions are fraudulent.
Therefore, OJSC Oil and Gas Company “RussNeft” bears no responsibility for commercial offers, transactions and other liabilities of these structures and provate persons.
