Izhevsk. On the eve of the new school year, students of Udmurt State University will receive a wonderful gift. A 9-storey modern building was constructed on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Udmurtiya, Alexander Volkov and was sponsored by the famous entrepreneur, philanthropist, Mikhail Gutseriev.
For Gutseriev the implementation of this charitable project - is one of the many successful social ventures in the Republic. Thus, previously the president of “RussNeft” financed the construction of a zoological park in Izhevsk, which is today one of the favorite places of leisure of Izhevsk people and guests of the city. Moreover, on the patron’s account is the assistance for the reconstruction of St. Michael’s Cathedral in Izhevsk, Kazan-Mother of God Temple in Belezino village, Malo-Diveevskoye Monastery in the village of Norya-Malopurginskiy district, the construction of the Temple of Saint Regal Martyrs in Izhevsk, the Temple of the Holy Great Martyr Panteleimon in the village Karakulino. For such ponderable assistance to the Russian Orthodox Church, its churches and tenements Mikhail Gutseriev was awarded by the orders of the Russian Orthodox Church of Sergius of Radonezh, Daniil of Moscow, Seraphim Sarovskiy.
However, charitable activity of Mikhail Gutseriev is spread outside Udmurtiya as well. Thus, in 2002 he sponsored the construction of a modern school – lyceum “Marem” in Nazran, and later in 2005 Gutseriev responded to Vladimir Putin appeal for help in the reconstruction of devastated Chechnya and financed the construction and equipping of the hospital in Urus-Martanovskiy district of the Republic and the construction of the school for 540 pupils in Grozny. A gift to another Caucasian Republic- Carachaevo-Cherkessiya must also be noted, in the capital of which the Palace of Culture and urban recreation park were built, sponsored by the businessman.
Revival of traditions, the restoration of the Holy places, rendering assistance to religious institutions – is the basis of patron’s broad charitable activity. Thus, with means of Mikhail Gutseriev, mosques were built in Siberian town of oilmen Raduzhniy, in Novospasskiy district of Ulyanovsk Oblast and in Solnechnogorsk, Moscow area. Mikhail Gutseriev is one of the main contributors of the Cathedral mosque in Moscow and of the Central mosque named after Akhmad-khadzhi Kadyrov. In 2007 the patron’s efforts were awarded with the highest muslim award of the Russian Counsil of Muftis – the 1st degree order of Al-Faht. It is also necessary to note assistance which Gutseriev rendered to rebuild the Moscow Jewish Community Center after the devastating fire, the construction of a synagogue building in 2005 in Kaliningrad and in 2010 in Novosibirsk.
And in the distant village of Aginsk, the capital of Agino-Burat autonomous district, at the request of the Head of the district, the president of “RussNeft” allocated means to reconstruction of the Aginsk Temple which is one of the leading religious and cultural centers of Buddhists of Russia.
On September 1, the new building of the petroleum department of Udmurt University will open its doors for 300 students. The Republic on the Kama river, one of the oil production centers of the country, will be able to prepare professionals for the most important branch in Russia, and it means a significant investment into strengthening its production and economy power. Mostly it is the merit of the president of “RussNeft” Mikhail Gutseriev who did his best for creation of all the necessary conditions for educating future oilmen in Udmurtiya.
