“Samotlor-Express”
Nizhnevartovsk region, KhMAO. In the village of Variogan public hearings have been held on the project of the construction of gas pipeline “Preliminary Water Removal Unit of Zapadno-Varioganskoye oilfield – Pump station-3 “Varioganskaya” with supply pipeline of booster station – Roslavlskoye oilfield – tie-in-point”. The project of OAO “Varioganneft” plans the construction of gas pipeline with a total length of approximately 94 km.
Administratively, the gas pipeline route is located in Nizhnevartovsk region of KhMAO – Ugra and partly runs on tribal lands owned by the representatives of small indigenous minorities of the North.
The participants discussed the preliminary assessment of the impact of the gas pipeline on the environment. As the project developers assured, the main attention, while sizing up the impact on the environment, was paid to improvement of environment due to extinguishing torches at Roslavlskoye and Zapadno-Varioganskoye oilfield, also there has been explored in detail the possibility of the maximum preservation of valuable species of forests and of hunting-fishing fauna.
During the hearings, the proposals were also made on providing information to indigenous people on the technical possibilities of the gasification of the village of Variogan; methodology of calculation of compensation for the use of water and land resources. Moreover, the heads of tribal lands asked to provide for the activities of the employment of the indigenous and local population.
The result of the hearings was the unanimous approval of the project of the construction of the gas pipeline from the indigenous population. As was reported to IA “Samotlor-express” in the press-service of “Varioganneft”, the next stage of the realization of the project – is direct construction of the object.
In general, the implementation of the planned program will enable OAO Varioganneft” to reach the level of utilization of associated petroleum gas 95 per cent, as well as to improve the environmental situation at Zapadno-Varioganskoye and Roslavlskoye oilfields.
