OAO Saratovneftegas put into operation storage facility for industrial waste products
Saratov. OAO Saratovneftegas, a subsidiary production enterprise of OAO NK RussNeft, has put into operation storage facility for industrial waste products with a high content of natural radionuclides of II category (oil sludge, contaminated soil, etc.).
This special construction, built within the frames of realization of a program to ensure radiation safety, is located at the territory of Levobereshniy shop on the preparation and transportation of oil and gas of the enterprise. OAO Saratovneftegas specialists took part in the development of the working project of the site.
The designated period of the storage facility service is 20 years, total capacity of storage chambers – is 50 tons. They can be solid, pasty and consistent waste, the expected amount of them is 5 tons per year. Storage of waste is carried out in accordance with the established procedure, pending the development of federally acceptable recycling technology. The built storage facility is not regarded as radiation object. This is environmental construction which prevents the spread of natural radionuclides into the environment.
In April 2012 the facility was visited by representatives of the Group of companies “City center of expertise” (the city of St. Petersburg) and OAO NK RussNeft specialists (Moscow). Guests highly appreciated the activities of OAO Saratovneftegas for ensuring radiation safety of production activities of the enterprise and safe labor conditions of its employees. The result of the visit was the official invitation of representatives of OAO Saratovneftegas for participation in the X Jubilee International Forum on industrial safety which will open on May, 29 in St. Petersburg. The aim of the event, which is held with the support of the Executive Committee of the CIS countries, the UN, IAEA, Rostekhnadzor of Russia – is promotion of international cooperation in the field of preventing technological disasters and the exchange of best practices.
