RussNeft donated a hostel to Izhevsk students

A solemn opening had already taken place in Izhevsk two years before – that was of the new building of Udmurtia State University Oil and Gas Institute. The event was significant for development of Russia’s oil and gas industry educational sphere. The institute building was erected in one year and became a real piece of architectural art decorating the capital of the republic. NK RussNeft had allocated $10 million for its construction.
The building is designed for 600 students. The 8 thousand square meters 9-storey building comprises 21 scientific laboratories and 12 lecture rooms. Oil professions in demand all over the world are taught to students by over 100 qualified teachers. Mikhail Gutseriev, President of NK RussNeft, and Aleksandr Volkov, President of Udmurtia, agreed to build a comfortable hostel for students at the opening of the Institute building. The company started construction last year and managed to complete it by commencement of the new academic year.
The new 9-storey hostel for the oil students accommodates 340 people and fully covers the needs of the Institute. The building is located near the Institute and has all modern conveniences. It has spacious and light rooms, kitchens, canteen, buffet. A gymnasium is also provided to promote the healthy life style among the students.
Eventually, NK RussNeft intends to approach Gubkin Oil and Gas Russian State University for development of this project. Joint shaping of educational programs will facilitate further development of the Institute’s scientific potential and allow it to become a major educational center of Russia’s oil and gas industry. Besides, the holding’s funds are used to purchase high-tech equipment and specialized literature for the Oil and Gas Institute.
Aleksandr Volkov, President of Udmurtia, signed a resolution to name Udmurtia State University Oil and Gas Institute after Mikhail Gutseriev, Head of OAO NK RussNeft, for contribution into implementation of this project.
Support from OAO NK RussNeft and personally Mikhail Gutseriev, its President, significantly helped the higher professional education system in Udmurtia. It will eventually allow to elevate the oil industry professionals preparation to a higher qualitative level.
At the same time, RussNeft implements a number of other educational projects with major universities of Russia: Lomonosov Moscow State University, Gubkin Oil and Gas Russian State University and others. It needs to be stressed that educational projects play a special role among the charitable and social programs of the oil company. The tight cooperation between the oilmen and universities allows to develop unique innovational educational programs for students aiming at harmonic merger of accumulated experience of fundamental and applied researches with possibilities of academic science.
Cooperation of RussNeft with Russian universities is a successful example of implementation of RF President initiative for active involvement of major Russian businesses in the development of the university education in the country. Implementation of educational projects allows RussNeft to provide direct support for development of higher professional education in Russia.
