OAO Varioganneft continues reinstatement of lands contaminated with oil

Raduzhny, KhMAO. Under the 2013 Environmental Program, OAO Variogannef, subsidiary of OAO NK RussNeft, performs scheduled activities on decontamination of the drilling sludge, reinstatement of the drilling sludge pits and lands contaminated with oil at Variogan oil block fields.

Two drilling sludge pits at Tagrinskoye field and one drilling sludge pit at Varioganskoye field are currently reinstated. Three drilling sludge pits will be closed by the year end. Besides, drilling sludge was treated at Valuninsloye and Novo-Aganskoye fields. The overall volume of the treated drilling sludge was 3042.8 m3.

Apart from that, reinstatement works are in progress on the lands contaminated with oil at Varioganskoye and Tagrinskoye fileds with total area of 12.514 Ha.

Currently, Varioganneft implements the second, biological phase of the reinstatement works. The reinstated areas are planted with multiyear herbs and forest trees in order to enhance the agro-physical, agro-chemical and bio-chemical properties of the soil.

The previous phase of the drilling sludge pits reinstatement was technical which was processing of the drilling wastes into technogenic soil. Application of this technology does not affect the environment.

Over 128 million rubles overall are scheduled to be allocated for the 2013 Environmental Program activities at Variogan oil block fields.

In 2013, the company will continue compliance with the established admissible environmental impact limits. Performance of the ecological management in accordance with ISO 14001:2004 international standard as well as implementation of the environment enhancement at Variogan oil block fields remain the priorities of OAO Varioganneft environmental policy.
