On the watch of security

A large-tonnage tank got damaged, oil spilled around. Four people got injured in emergency. Inflammation and explosion of associated gas can occur any minute… The rescuers arrived on alarm started working immediately: firemen supplied foam covering the tank as if with snow, in order to localize the site. But still they failed to prevent the explosion.  Some of the rescuers were wounded. It was clear that if the easily inflammable gas mixture got close to technological installations it could result in a catastrophe. To more groups of OOO “Zashchita” hurried to help. The injured people were evacuated from the site. They received emergency medical help, including artificial respiration and reanimation. The firemen cooled the equipment and set down the gas cloud with water jets from carriage barrels looking like real cannons. In the meanwhile experts liquidated the leakage in the tank. The danger was eliminated, quickly and competently. The aggravation went down…
“Such accidents are very dangerous”, commented V.I.Krivega, assistant professor of the chair of gas rescuing services at the Novomoskovsk Institute of Professional Development. – There were cases when chemical plants actually demolished themselves. But the Orsk people acted competently and efficiently, without any fuss.”
Of course, it was an episode of training. Gas rescuers of the oil chemical plant demonstrated their ability to act in the most difficult situations which could occur at a refinery – a large-scale accident with chain reaction and many injured people.
The examiner from the capital, a man of great experience and knowledge gave the highest marks to the level of training and actions of the rescuers. And it is very important for Orsk oilmen. To do their best to prevent catastrophe – at “Orsknefteorgsintez” as at each subsidiary of “RussNeft” it is a matter of high prority.
