«Orsknefteorgsintez»: both plant and fate

This date is a good chance to announce what has been achieved by the staff, and what should be done; to have a good time together, and to exult at success. But, still, the central figure of the holiday is the plant itself, as if a member of a big and friendly family.
 S. Karmenov, the Head of the Engineering Design Department, tells a little bit of himself, about ONOS and the common future:
 I was born and brought up in the village Pobeda. The plant, named after Chkalov, was surrounded at that time by the tenement houses. My parents, brothers and other relatives worked at our plant. The general job seniority of our family is more than 100 years. Of course, I could hear a lot about the plant in the family, but I could see it with my own eyes only when we, the pupils of the sponsored school № 9, were invited there on excursions. I knew where I'd go to continue my education - oil technical school, of course.
During my externship I worked at the lube unit, at the unit 37-4. I also looked in the unit 39-4, where my father was working. In the ammoniac air compressor room there was felt pungent odor. Later on, outdated compressors have been changed by the new ones, made in the US; they allowed to improve the working conditions. The lube unit became clean and well-groomed. All its units operated at total load. It was popular all over the country, Arctic lube was in great demand. The plant received telegrams from the Government with request on issue. At that time there was constructed unit T-6. I took part in the construction. Every new unit always brings new expectations. By that time I was already working as a locksmith at the workshop № 10. I also participated in the repair of the unit ALOU-AVT, which impressed by its size and immensity of works.
 After the plant he served in the army, then entered Moscow Institute of Petroleum named after I. M. Gubkin, and after doctoral degree studies he returned to the plant. By that time ONOS has changed a lot. There appeared new production units, working and living conditions of the staff were improved. A new pig complex was opened. There was constructed modern car park.
 Returning to the plant I was working as an operator in the workshop № 10. By that time the pipelines were pulled out from the ground, and it allowed to avoid loss of oil products and swamping of the village Oktyabrskoye. All pipelines had big diameter and their length was more than 20 km.
I was invited to work as a mechanic at the unit of free sulphur production, which was in process of construction. We hadn't analogy of this technological process. We went to allied enterprises to gain necessary experience. As a result there was constructed a safe unit with high rates of production. At the same time there was being constructed a hydrotreating unit of fuel oil. That was a real step forward in the development of our plant. It allowed to produce presentday environmentally safe products - low hazardous substance fuel oil. At that time business environment in the country imposed its own conditions on the survival of the enterprise. Thus, we've got boiler-house plant and makeup demineralizer.
Later on, holding a post of the Head of Engineering Design Department, together with design institutes I participated in reconstruction of units 35-11-1 and ALOU-AVT. Major efforts were made at ALOU-AVT on renewal of process furnaces and reconstruction of heat-exchange unit, vacuum-pump system, renewal of pumping equipment, industrial safety adjustment.
The plant is being actively developed nowadays too. New units are being constructed; it allowes the plant to have advanced equipment, thanks to which european-standard products, corresponding environmental requirements, can be turned out. This year it's planned to reconstruct unit 22-4М. Except renewal of processing facilities, there will be constructed a modern operating process and emergency protection control system.
     Works on unit 37-2 were also very tense. One of the most significant events of the year is the construction of the new lab, for which there was purchased unique equipment.
 What are the perspectives of the plant for the nearest future? Works on the construction of on-spot station and isomerization unit are in prospect. Building land is almost ready. 
Work on implementation of project on assembling of a new furnace at reformer is going on.
 There's much work ahead, but "Orsknefteorgsintez" has a very good staff, which can carry out the most large-scale plans of the Company and successfully deal with all tasks. And it means, that the plant will have a great future, and in its glorious history there'll be made new records.
