Orskneftergsintez: sport is the main hobby
The guests, who visit ""Orsknefteorgsintez rather freqently, always note not only the clean and groomed territory of the refinery, but also the rare qualities of the people who work there. They are friendly, sincere, full of energy. And that is why the fact that all the workers of the plant are active sportsmen, does not surprise anyone.
Almost 2000 people are numbered in the sections of volleyball, football, basketball, swimming, billiard. Almost one third of the personnel of the refinery (750 people from all the subdivisions) regularly participate in local championships the number of which by the end of the year will have reached 20. Every year starting from January the plant arranges local Olympics - 13 (!) kinds of sports. One-day blitz-tournaments arranged usually in the honor of some holiday are very popular with the oil chemists. The sportsmen of ONOS are indispensable participants of all city and regional races,of the regional Olympics organized by trade-unions (7 kinds of sports), where the team of "Orsknefteorgsintez" has never gained any place lower than the fourth.
The results are still more impressive at the level of Orsk. The teams of the oil chemists have won the city races - arranged in the honor of Victory Day, Day of the City, Sportsman's Day, the races "Russian skies" and the autumn cross, football tournament and motocross championship . By the way, the latter was arranged and sponspred by "Orsknefteorgsuntez" which have born all the expences.
At the city competition "Sport for workers" oil chemists showed good results as well - the second place, especially, if you take into account that the teams were competing in 8 kinds of sports.
Basketball, table tennis, football, volleyball, weightlifting are very popular with the workers of ONOS. But other kinds of sports, such as skating, chess, chequers, armwrestling, swimming, sport fishing, hockey, have their addicts too. Nobody is surprised to see the General Director riding a sport motocycle or running in ski races, or the Chief Engineer playing hockey. Many people at ONOS and members of their families regard spotrts not as a hobby, but as a part of their lives. N.Firsov (oil block), E. Kerimbayev (oil block), V.Lushnikov - the list of "versatile sportsmen", as the sports instructor of "Nwfteorgsintez", G. Ikamatskich call them, may be very long. And this is a very positive fact. Physically fit, optimistic, healthy people can be called the pride of any plant. And the sportsmen of ONOS have a lot od interesting competitions and new victories in front of them.
