The dream has come true

Less than a week remains before the start of the school year. New student life in one of the most prestigious universities of the country - Russian State Oil and Gas University named after Gubkin will begin for five students from Ulyanovsk as well. OAO NK “RussNeft” sponsors studies at the famous university for school graduates who succeeded in final entry.
An opportunity to study in the capital’s Russian State Oil and Gas University named after Gubkin due to oil company “RussNeft” – is a real good luck and good basis for the future for every young person. There is no special institution in Ulyanovsk, which would prepare specialists in the field of oil production. This is why OAO NK “RussNeft” cooperates with the leading university of the country, which prepares specialists for work in the oil industry. OAO NK “RussNeft” entered into an agreement with the Russian State Oil and Gas University named after Gubkin about training specialists for work in subsidiary enterprises of OAO NK “RussNeft”. Special program was developed to prepare senior high school students for entrance to University, which was successfully implemented for the whole year.
“In the first place 11 pupils were selected among seniors”- said Irina Koroleva, head of department of staff training and development of “Ulyanovskneft”, a subsidiary enterprise of “Ulyanovskneft”. “At the first stage in November 2010, at the second stage in February 2011 they studied at the regional preparatory department of the Russian State Oil and Gas University named after Gubkin, which was organized at the training base in Saratov, where during 16 days they had 8 hours of daily preparation for entrance exams with teachers of RGU named after Gubkin. It was nice that they had marked a high level of knowledge of our pupils.  
According to the results of Unified State Examination (USE), of the 11 people five most worthy were selected, including medalists with high USE scores. Most of them are from Ulyanovsk, one graduate is from village Divniy, Melekesskiy district. Among the lucky ones there are two girls. Studying in Moscow and independent life away from home for yesterday’s graduates doesn’t seem to frighten them, in fact, gaining a university diploma, they will join people, working for oil company and, furthermore, extend the family’s dynasty. The fact is that graduates, who entered the university, are from oil industry workers families themselves, many parents and even older generation of relatives work in OAO “Ulyanovskneft”. Future oil industry workers are already familiar with the work in the company. During winter vacation a meeting with general director of OAO “Ulyanovskneft” Sergey Korolev was organized for them and a special presentation of the Company was held. In summer children visited production and could see its work with their own eyes.
But the main test was, of course, passing the USE.   
 “State examinations were very complex, I had to work with coaches all year,- recalls Vladislav Vedmanov, who had entered the RGU – he entered the faculty of Geology, Geophysics of oil and gas, choosing the specialty of “Technology of geological exploration”. I have chosen this profession because I studied at physico-mathematical lyceum and a lot of time focused on exact sciences. I would, of course, continue the family tradition, follow the footsteps of my uncle – they are also oil industry workers. Parents have supported me in my choosing. During the exam prep Vladislav became friends with his future classmates, who during this year studied at the regional preparatory department. As for the rest of the guys, entering the University was very important for Vladislav.
-I think that Russian State Oil and Gas University named after Gubkin is the leading technical University in the country and studying there is a good launching pad for my professional activities and career growth, employment and practice opportunity for getting a result.
After having obtained a diploma, Vlad would like to work in Ulyanovsk region.
Anton Markelov also prepared for exams responsively.
-I understood that the performance of my cherished dream depends on my efforts in study – says the boy. – We got well with others very quickly, because we had one common goal – studying in one of the leading universities of the country. 
Efforts have not come in vain – Anton entered the faculty of oil and gas field exploitation. He had chosen his future profession when most pupils don’t even think about their careers.
 “I chose the profession consciously and independently in the 8th class. I found on the Internet the Russian State Oil and Gas University named after Gubkin and since that time dreamed to study there. Moreover, my parents have been working in OAO “Ulyanovskneft” for more than 10 years. They love and cherish their job that is why they responded to my choice with respect and understanding. In August 2010 we came Moscow with my mother, visited the university. I liked it very much there. After graduation I would like to dedicate my knowledge and skills in my work for the prosperity of “RussNeft” company. And Victor Inyshin found entrance examinations to be rather easy. Actually, this easiness is the result of constant work, making USE tests, and, of ourse, the same great desire to enter the university.
“I have chosen the specialty “Management and maintenance of oil production objects”, I think that it is more prestigious. Of course, my parents influenced my choice. My father and grandfather worked in oil industry all their life too. So for me learning in RGU is very important, it is the first among oil institutes in Russia.     
Now, when the exams are all over, new interesting discoveries, quality education and rich student life are waiting for these students. And in a year after the 1st course they will come to practice in OAO “Ulyanovskneft”.
–On September, 1, 2011, the children will be solemnly granted student ID cards by the rector of the Russian State Oil and Gas University named after Gubkin Igor Martynov and the president of OAO NK “RussNeft” Mikhail Gutseriev, -Irina Koroleva says. – At this meeting it will be possible to hear the opinion of the president of OAO NK “RussNeft” Mikhail Gutseriev about further continuation of the program on training of young professionals-oilmen. We already have experience, so this year, I am sure, we will start the preparation of the next group of schoolchildren. 

 Profession in practice

NK “RussNeft” not only gives the opportunity for children from Ulyanovsk get a quality education in the field of oil production in the prestigious metropolitan university, but also on the base of its subsidiary enterprise OAO “Ulyanovskneft” takes students, future oilmen, who come to our Oblast from other regions to have practice. So today at OAO “Ulyanovskneft” four students from Kazan Federal University (KFU) do practical training.  When requests from NK “RussNeft” came to the Geology Faculty of KFU concerning production practice in Ulyanovsk region, Pavel Galkin, a student of the 3 course, took this opportunity to visit this major production and to see in practice everything that he studied from books for three years. Pavel went to oil and gas production department № 1 “South” of Novospassky region, where he and his course mate came on June 1 for the whole summer – until 31 August.
 “I immediately liked very friendly working team”- Pavel says.
 “You know, students always have many questions, so with any of them you can always turn to professionals of oil-and-gas production department, nobody will refuse any help or advice.
The trainees, though arrived at practice for the first time, did not stand away from work. Together with senior companions they worked with tables on the perforation and regime of wells, studied their history. They were also entrusted to work with laboratory data.
-Of course, most of all I like to come to the field, to see everything with my own eyes. It is not like just read the tutorial, -says the trainee. By the way, before the students from Kazan Federal University, four students, future oilmen from Murmansk University also had practice here for 2 months. It is not the first year when students from this university come to the Field Office.
-The trainees received a training course to repair wells, studied maintenance insulation works, - explains Vyacheslav Petrov, a member of the department of underground and capital well repair. – The guys worked as real specialists: in overalls, helmets, they passed the safety instruction in advance. As a former student myself I can say: before state exams at the university I also had practice, where I could see everything that we had been explained with my own eyes. This is, of course, invaluable experience. Many of the trainees return to our production after obtaining a diploma. 
Two more KFU students of the 3rd course get into the profession of oilmen in oil-and-gas production department № 2 “North” of Melekessky region. Ilnur Nugmanov and Ildar Gabrakhimov came there on June 1 too and worked there with rotating scheme till August 16. “No pity that I chose Ulyanovsk region, -says Ilnur. – We have help from all members of department of development and geology, get prompts if questions arise. We are provided with all the conditions of work and accommodation.
